May 2008 Spring Adventure Trip to     Kyuquot

“who needs a boat to cruise?”

May 7, 8, 9 &10

TRIP OUTLINE

May 7   We meet at the Yacht Club at 7 am. Load into vans and go to the ferry which at this time is scheduled for an 8:20 am departure.  Eat breakfast at home or have coffee and rolls aboard the ferry.  We then drive to Gold River, stopping for lunch along the way.  We’ll pick a spot later.  We’ll check in at the Gold River Chalet (1-866-450-2688) $90.06 per room (includes tax) for a non smoking king or two doubles. Four (friendly people) in a room would cost $112.86. This rate is about $10 off of their standard rates.

May 8   We drive to the dock (+/- 10 miles) and board the M.V. Uchuck III at 7am sharp.  The trip is aboard a working 136’ costal cargo and passenger ship.  Stops along the way depend on freight and passenger deliveries.  We arrive at Kyuquot at 5 pm, disembark and have dinner together which is included in the price. The cost has changed from the information given to me in September.  The fares will increase by $10 and the 25% discount will still apply.  Therefore the double rate should be $ 330.00 and the single rate should be $ 218.00.  Taxes are included. You can cancel two weeks before departure.  Our accommodations will be in houses, each with four (four person) bedrooms – I’m guessing “a little rustic”.  We will share bathrooms.  Uchuck office phone number is (250-283-2515).  A $100 deposit will hold your place and mention that you are with the PAYC group.  We are limited to 30 people at the B&B so get your reservations in ASAP. You will pay the balance when you board. Visa / MasterCard

May 9 After fixing our own breakfast, we re-board the boat and return to Gold River at 5 pm.  We’ll stop for dinner and spend the night ……………………….? The choices are many.  Gold River (again), Nanaimo, Chemainis, Sidney, Victoria.  We’ll pick one.

May 10  Drive to Victoria.  Put the cars in line for the ferry and we’ll have a few hours to do a pub crawl, shop or museum visit.  We’ll board the 4 pm ferry and go home.
