This book takes you to the amazing real life of Joshua Slocum. Turns out sailing alone around the world was just about the least amazing thing about him - sort of an anti-climax. Joshua was more like a real-life Forrest Gump of the late 1800s. He was right next to or part of virtually anything newsworthy - worldwide - during that time. You really gotta read this book and join us on October 21. Feed your inner Viking at PAYC on May 17th at 6PM. We've pulled out all the stops to make this a memorable evening. Chef Sage at New Day Eatery is making sockeye salmon roasted in a dill-mustard sauce, roast pork loin with honey poached cranberries and apples, Scandinavian style veggies, and fresh baked focaccia bread! You can wash all this great food down with locally brewed mead brought in for the occasion - and best of all you can drink your mead horn flagons available for purchase at the bar. April 4, 2024 at 6:30PM This approximately 90-minute introductory presentation will give radar users a practical assist to get underway using your radar, including controls and operation, limitations of radar, its use in navigation and piloting, and underway with an intro to collision avoidance. Essential navigation rules related to radar are emphasized, with ample time for Q&A. The presentation will be of benefit to both power and sail cruisers and will address radar and general related issues common to all manufacturers’ products. If you’re thinking about buying a radar, this fundamental info may help your decision process.
Our presenter, Larry Brandt, has for many years been chief radar instructor at the Starpath School of Navigation. He is a former professional aviator and is a certified American Sailing Association instructor for all levels up to Advanced Coastal Cruising, Navigation and Weather. We've always been told to "Beware the Ides of March!" This year, on the Ides of March, the only thing you should beware of is missing our great Irish pot lock dinner. Our trusty Commodore Chris has volunteered to cook enough traditional corned beef and cabbage for everyone to have some. All you have to do is bring a pot luck side dish or dessert!
